When you plan a trip you always want to go someplace different than the previous ones especially at the end of the summer season. No wonder Delhi has a lot of places to explore but it’s time to view someplace other than Delhi and away from Delhi. Here are some of the unusual end-of-summer getaways:
1. McLeodganj, Himachal Pradesh
Personally, I love to visit McLeodganj post summers, whenever I can. For some reasons this place holds the top position in my list of end-of-summer getaways from Delhi. McLeodganj is a small town 3 km away from Dharamshala (one of the places I have visited most often), known for its religious journey for the Buddhists. You’ll get to see the real lifestyle of Buddhists and monks during your visit to McLeodganj. The place is not just about cultural heritage, you can have an adventurous journey too.
The Triund trek starts from McLeodganj to the best view you’ll find in the Himalayas. It’s a 9 km trek going through the forests of Oak, Deodar, and Rhododendron and reaching the top of Triund. It is so worth it when you see the hills of the Dhauladhar mountain, such a heart, and soul-touching moment.
Other places to visit in Himachal near McLeodganj are Kareri Lake, Namgyal Monastery, Sunset Point, Masroor Temple, Tibetan Market, Kangra Fort, Bhagsu Falls, Dharamkot, Maharana Pratap Sagar Lake.

2. Daman & Diu, Gujarat
Daman is earlier known as “Damao” & Diu earlier known as “Mani Nagar” is a historical place and mythology story lies with this place. During the Mahabharata period, Diu was ruled by the great king Jallandhar (Demon) and was killed by Lord Vishnu with his Sudarshan Chakra. Temple of Jallandhar is a place you must go to during your visit. Portuguese architecture and a few beaches are the beauty of Daman and Diu.
Moti Daman Fort is one of the known places in Daman and has two lighthouses. The view of the vast sea from the Old Lighthouse is so peaceful, relaxing and memorable that you will fall for this place. At sunset, the Daman Ganga River bank fills with fishing boats for travelers to capture one of those memories that are difficult to eradicate.
Other places to visit in Daman and Diu are Mirasol Lake Garden & Water Park, Jampore Beach, Devka Beach, Nagao Beach, Shaking Tower at Delwada, Cathedral of Bom Jesu, St Jerome Fort, Jetty Garden, and Kadaiya Lake Garden.

3. Valley of Flowers National Park, Uttarakhand
In a simple word “Nature Walk”. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Valley of Flowers is one of the best end-of-summer getaways. There is a trek route starting from the valley of flowers, you will see the colorful bed of rare varieties of flowers, the sky over your head, mountains in front of your eyes, small river stream and waterfall on the way. You’ll never want to finish such a peaceful journey.
You may spot some rare and endangered animal species like Asiatic black deer, musk deer, red fox, and blue sheep. There is a mythology story here that Hanuman had collected the Sanjeevani Buti for curing Lakshmana. Definitely a must-to visit end-of-summer place.
Other places to visit in Uttarakhand are Hemkund Sahib, Badrinath, Auli, Jim Corbett National Park, Malari, Govindghat.

4. City Palace, Udaipur
Udaipur is known as the “City of Lakes”. It is surrounded by four lakes and has a lot of places to visit. You can go on a trip with your family or loved ones. The entire city’s architecture is marvelous but the City Palace and Lake Palace are something that you wouldn’t want to take your eyes off.
City Palace is situated on the eastern banks of Pichola lake and has a gorgeous background of Aravalli Mountains. The entrance of City Palace is Badi Pol and Sheetla Mata Gate while entering you might feel like Maharaja/Maharani. It is built completely with marble and granite that you would want to take off your shoes/sandal to feel the purity of the Palace.
