It was not easy to balance life on the road with good health but I did manage. I believe that staying fit and healthy on the road becomes possible with daily habits and routines. I find that if I exercise on the first day of my traveling, I tend to exercise every day during my journey.

Follow these tips to stay fit and healthy on the road and improve your travel experience.

1. Jogging: Prefer it in the morning

Travel requires the traveler to stay fit and healthy while he is on the road. Physical fitness can’t be acquired in one day. It’s a process that you can start by adding jogging in your morning routine. My main intention is to increase your physical fitness with less stress on your body. Jogging has many health benefits in life.
You can go for jogging either you are traveling or not. It will benefit you anyways. But, if you are planning a trip and don’t have sufficient energy that is required during travel. You may drain out of your energy and feel tired very soon.
If you are busy with your service or business, you can start jogging from the day of planning for your trip.

2. Fuel your energy: have a healthy breakfast

I might sound like a mother is talking, but you should never miss a healthy breakfast. During travel, you book accommodation to rest. When you come back from a long day trip, you feel tired and sleepy. Breakfast is necessary to refuel your energy for upcoming activities. A lot of hotels provide breakfast as a complimentary service. So, if you are a frequent traveler, you will never miss it.

3. Keep your tummy happy: Greek yogurt or milk or Juice

Like exercise to stay fit, food is to keep you healthy. I love traveling and get excited to meet new people, places and taste new foods. What I don’t like is constipation, diarrhea, gas, head and body aches during my travel. Not eating properly and drinking less amount of water because you are traveling can create problems for you. When traveling, never skip your meal and snacks. With an empty tummy, you can’t enjoy the beauty of the journey.

Things I do to keep my tummy happy:

• Drink lots of water – Flush toxins out from my system and keeps me feeling good.
• Greek yogurt – I love to taste new dishes during my traveling. Sometimes, you may try strange new food like me. Eating yogurt helps me in keeping my stomach in balance.
• Choice of menu items – I choose my food with care. I prefer food items like whole grains, beans, vegetables, and sweet dishes.
• Snacks – I buy fruits and tetra pack juices from a local market for snacks.

A happy tummy means you are more comfortable to enjoy your destination. You can eat yogurt and take milk or juices almost anywhere and can buy it from any grocery store. This helps me in staying fit and healthy when I am on the road. You can try my ideas too.

4. Take a break – Rest – Relax – Start

During your trip, you experience new places, try new foods, adjust in a packed taxi. You may feel stress and tiredness during the trip. If you want to stay fit and healthy when you are on the road, take a break. You will benefit a lot from resting. When moving after exploring one destination to another, take breaks just to relax and then, continue.

From a small break, your body and mind can get sufficient time to recover. This will help you enjoy your trip with a good mood and a healthy body.

5. Vaccination: A lifesaver for travelers

It is good to consult your health advisor for a recommendation of proper vaccination. He can provide you proper guidance depending upon the place you are traveling. There are chances are that you may come into contact with diseases and get infected. Hence, it is better to take a precautious step before traveling. Get vaccinated before traveling to stay fit and healthy while you on the road.

6. Walk & Talk: Make it your ways to enjoy the nearby attraction

When you make a list of attractions and events to attend at the destination spot, do your Google map research. Walking provides you the best exposure with streets and local attractions. While you choose to walk and talk, you will benefit a few things unknowingly. You can benefit from interactions with local people, local market and cultures in the street. Needless to mention, you will be improving your health too.

7. Exercises  to keep you going

For some, sleeping, eating and breathing are a necessary part of their life. For me, traveling and exercises are.
When you are planning a trip or traveling, make time for exercise. You don’t have to push yourself hard to stay fit and healthy on the road. Few simple and basic exercises can benefit you sufficiently.

Here is my list of exercises that I do to stay fit and healthy on the road:

• Push-ups
• Sit-ups
• Lunges
• Squats
• Stretching

You can complete your workout in 15 – 20 minutes in your hotel room or hotel gym using these basic exercises.

It is necessary to incorporate these tips in travel life. As a result, you can save yourself from the trouble that might take place due to negligence towards your health. If you are a regular traveler, probably you know how important it is to stay fit and healthy during your travel and daily life.
